I'm Baccccccccck

November 1, 2012

What a wonderful time of year to prepare for a Spring re-birth.  After Baltimore Half-Marathon, I felt something I had not felt in a long while~~~Alive.  I enjoyed all the wonderful crowds and support along the streets of Baltimore.  There were relays, 5k,  half marathons and marathons. It is one of the most difficult 13.1 races I have participated in but it is the 4th time I have done it so I knew what grueling hills I was in for and enjoyed it any way with all the supporters especially BGR, a group to increase healthy running lifestyle through running geared toward African American women and decease Hypertension and Diabetes.

It was great to see all the Hopkins Medical Community,  Frederick Road Runners and people running in honor of loved ones. It was my 15th half marathon and 3 rd half this year. Nothing spectacular @ 2:34 but better than Frederick half @ 2:54 and Disney at 2:44. Not near PR of 2:00 but I had fun. Not sure what is next just vow to keep participating and encouraging others to stay active and have fun. Miles of smiles :)

This perseverance of effort promotes the overcoming of obstacles or challenges that lie within a gritty individual's path to accomplishment, and serves as a driving force in achievement realization. Commonly associated concepts within the field of psychology include "perseverance", "hardiness", "resilience", "ambition", "need for achievement" and "conscientiousness".  This is who I am. Stacy the Grit.  Yes, I could spend a lot of time talking to you about my finish time and what I could improve upon yadda yadda yadda but anyone who reads my blog knows that I rarely focus on the outcome.  I focus on the process. I focus on how did I arrive at a specific point and time. I focus on the jour...

Goals: A healthy lifestyle has no finish line

As a coach, I get many questions on exercise, weight loss, running, etc. All are great questions. However, I find myself asking clients the same question. What is your goal? General health and performance goals share many commonalities. To meet healthy lifestyle or performance goals, both require the following: ·       Defined goal ·       Nutrition balancing ·       Exercise ·       Consistency However, there are some key differences between general health goals and performance/sport specific goals.   ·       Goals- Is your goal to “get healthy” What does that mean?   Does it mean lose a few pounds or run a marathon? Be specific. How do you plan to measure your success? This is important. Why? Some people say they want to “get healthy” without defining what that means for them. Define what healthy means for you. Write it down. If ...
